If you have any questions or require an invitation letter from our clinic, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Preparing for your Treatment

If you haven’t been able to provide us with all your medical records before traveling to Germany, please make sure to bring all your records with you. This will allow you to avoid having additional examination after your arrival. If you are taking regular medication, please remember to bring it with you.

Getting There

The campuses of the Kliniken der Stadt Köln are located in the neighborhoods of Merheim, Holweide, and Riehl.

Cologne can be comfortably reached by airplane, train or car.

Cologne-Bonn Airport is the nearest airport. It is approximately 15 minutes away from the Merheim campus by taxi or by car and approximately 20 minutes from the Amsterdamer Straße Children´s Clinic.

Arrival and Accommodation

After arriving at the clinic, a member of our staff will accompany you to the patient admissions desk. You will then be brought to the ward and shown your room.

Both one- and two-bed rooms are available on request.

Food
Every Kliniken der Stadt Köln campus has a cafe and kiosks for the patients. They are open throughout the day. There are also vending machines available for drinks and snacks.

Internet/Television
All rooms at the Holweide and Merheim hospitals have cable television connection. The television can be activated by paying a fee. There are a variety of international channels available.

Religious Practices
All Cologne city hospitals have a shared catholic-evangelical chapel and a room for prayer and contemplation. Religious services are held regularly. The pastor at each hospital is there to help, regardless of your religious affiliation, and can arrange contact with figures of other religions at your request.

Discharge
At the end of your course of treatment, you will be given a medical report covering all aspects of your treatment. Your full medical report can be translated into English on request.

Interpreters

Your personal, cultural and religious needs are a priority for us. The international nature of our physicians and nursing staff allows for patients to be attended to in German or English.

If you need an interpreter, please let us know in advance so we can provide you with a selection of specialist interpreters. You will be required to enter into a separate contract with the interpreter.

Accommodation for Relatives

If there are sufficient beds available, it is possible to have an accompanying person stay with you. The admission of an accompanying person is a cost-incurring additional service.

Relatives can also stay at hotels in the Cologne area. Do not hesitate to ask us if you have any questions. The official Cologne tourism website Kölntourismus (Link) offers a wide variety of hotels for every budget.
